Spirit & Matter Artist Statement

This series of paintings & sculptures contains symbols that pertain to dualism and chaos in our current global culture, as well as our interaction with the natural world. A majority of humanity is riding a wave of confusion about our place in this world. It is difficult to surmount the sea of ideas spinning around us at great speeds, while every day digesting a new problem that is begging to be addressed. What great lengths will we go to become even further separated from the very things that allow for universal well-being? These images are asking us to take the time to deeply connect with our inner selves, nature and each other, while acknowledging the illusion of separation.
